The Event

Valleys Velo Sportive is back for the 5th edition after rave reviews in all previous events. This end of season sportive organised by the BIKE DOCTOR Cycling club, and brings together spectacular rolling mountain scenery, with some classic climbs, brilliant views and fast testing descents as it threads its way through the ex mining landscape of the South Wales Valleys.

There are two routes - Standard 65k and a Epic 95k route. While the Epic route is only  95km long there is a total of six major hills with almost 6000ft of climbing which yes includes the epic climbs of the Bwlch, Rhigos and Maerdy but also many more hidden gems waiting to challenge you.

Early Bird Entry Fee for 2019 is £30 and will include a special Valleys Velo Tee for all entrants, We recommend you enter this event as early as possible after the success of previous years.

Spaces will be Limited to 400 Riders

Route

The 38.1miles / 67km route is still challenge those who want a shorter option route.

Riders will leave Dare Valleys to the east, Heading straight for the Rhigos visiting Hirwaun, before entering the Rhondda Valleys a gentle decent down to a valleys favorite the 'Penrhys Climb'. The route then heads south to tackle a secret gem 'Graig Hill' then through the lanes before decending into Blaenllechau. One more climb left and your home!

56.3mi - Distance

6,836ft - Elevation Gain

Route

The 56.3miles / 95km route is a challenging route, incorporating two famous climbs.

Riders will leave Dare Valleys to the east, Heading straight for the Rhigos visiting Hirwaun, before entering the Rhondda Valleys to tackle the famous Bwlch Mountain climb. Home to the King and Queen of the Mountain Valleys Velo Challenge. The route then heads south through some unspoilt scenery through valleys towns before heading back over Gilfach and on to a valleys favorite the 'Penrhys Climb'. The route then heads south to tackle a secret gem 'Graig Hill' through the lanes before decending into Blaenllechau. One more climb left and your home!
